Do you know much about Dover Flexo Electronics’ Tension Roll Transducer®? This load cell roller was the first of its kind, transforming the printing and web converting industry. This blog will explain to you the history of this transducer, how its used and how it performs.
When DFE was founded in 1974 its main focus was on tension display and control solutions, intending to create reliable equipment and high quality. Then in the 1980s, they designed specific web tension tools, that were of a cartridge style. However, this equipment had alignment and adjustment issues meaning it was hard to install. Similarly, its idler rolls were having size and balance issues that were leading to errors. This led to the need and want for a piece of equipment to be created where a load system could work within the roller, and make the process much easier. The first model was created in 1977 and by 1988 the Tension Roll® was released.
This roll was suitable for a range of industries, particularly those working with foil, film and paper printing alongside web converting, people wanted to see how effective this piece of equipment truly was. Since then, different versions were created and used by customers worldwide, for both convenience and accuracy, this equipment allowed for high performance.
Today in 2023, the Tension Roll Transducer® still has outstanding performance and is extremely popular. Now made up of stainless steel or aluminium its design is durable and strong. Its roll shells can be customised along with its load ratings. In fact, there’s even a choice of finishes to choose from based on your needs, such as plasma and hard coat anodized. Did you know this piece of equipment comes with a 5-year warranty?
